Early Years

Hemanta Rana was born in Nawalpur, Dang to Lal Bahadur Rana and Saraswati Rana. He spent his childhood in Bardia leter they shifted in Nepalgunj where he finished his schooling. He is a Gold Medalist Wushu player and came to Kathmandu in 2000 to continue his career in sports. As he was also interested in music, he started his singing career from school days. He never took formal musical training. Fortunately, in the capital city someone noticed his singing and helped him join a recording studio where he released his albums.

Musical Career

He began his musical career with the song 'Paap Punya' from his first album in 2005. After releasing his first album 'Paap Punya' he was appreciated by the critics and the audience. Even after releasing his first album, he used to sing in bars and pubs to survive. He released his second album 'Laija Re' in 2010 rose him to fame. He received many awards for that album and after that there was no looking back for him. He debut as a music composer from the movie called 'Ritu'. He has sung in various movies and collection albums. His latest released song 'Saili' appreciated by Nepalese all over the world as the song holds the deepest meaning, starring talented actors Gaurav Pahari and Menuka Pradhan, written and composed by Kali Prasad Baskota.
